Our new PrePay energy solution works the same as putting gas in your car: You pay for electricity as you need it. You can purchase small amounts every few days or buy more when your budget allows.

PrePay works especially well for people who want to take control of their electric account and energy usage. You can monitor your energy use regularly by accessing your account on PowerPay 24, and you will begin to notice patterns in your day-to-day usage.

Any variation from this pattern, such as extreme high or low temperatures (increase), house guests (increase) or a vacation (decrease), will become evident as you monitor your account. Monitoring and controlling daily usage can help keep electricity costs down. Studies show that when you know how, when and where you use electricity, the more likely you are to reduce discretionary consumption by 7-12% annually.

Who can participate?

CCEC members receiving electric service under the residential rate or where technology capabilities exist are eligible. Participants must be able to receive account notifications via text message or email.

When your account runs low, you will get an alert so you know it’s time to recharge your account. Payments can be made online or over the phone anytime or in person at a CCEC office during regular business hours.

If funds in your account run out, your electric service will be automatically disconnected, and you will be notified. When you add funds to your account your power will typically be restored within 30 minutes, and you won’t be charged a reconnection fee.
