What is Operation RoundUP?FoundationLogo.jpg

One of things we love at CCEC is our members’ monthly contributions to Operation RoundUP and the difference their small change makes in the lives of our friends, neighbors and communities.

A majority of CCEC members show their compassion each month, by rounding up their electric bills to nearest dollar amount. Let’s say your bill one month is $81.75, the bill would be automatically rounded up to $82 and the extra 25¢ would go toward Operation RoundUP. The average amount rounded up in a year is $6 per member. The maximum amount anyone will contribute is $11.88 year (99¢ x 12 months). The money raised is placed with the Carteret-Craven Electric Foundation, which is run by volunteer co-op members who serve on the board of directors and review grant requests.

The foundation has been able to award an array of grants to support of youth leadership programs, college scholarships, veterans, food pantries, nonprofit healthcare programs and facilities, shelters for the homeless and victims of domestic violence, emergency heating and cooling assistance, and many, many other deserving organizations and individuals in Carteret, Craven, Jones and Onslow counties.

"We strive to improve our communities by contributing to programs that focus on the health, safety and education of citizens in our service area," said Leigh Ann Jones, billing manager at CCEC and liaison to the foundation board. "The program allows us to give on behalf of the co-op and its members, and we take that role to heart.”

Since the program began in 1999, Operation RoundUP has distributed more than $3.8 million to improve the quality of life of our friends and neighbors.
