We are starting the New Year with a wholesale power cost adjustment (WPCA) credit of $2.50 per 1,000 kWh of electricity.

In 2021, the WPCA started at $2.25 per 1,000 kWh of electricity. Over the year, the WPCA was increased to $4.50 per 1,000 kWh credit in June, increased again in October to $6.25 credit, and again increased in November to $12.00 per 1,000 kWh credit. We closed the year with a $25.00 per 1,000 kWh credit in December.

Listed as the "Wholesale Power/Fuel" adjustment on your monthly bill, the WPCA reflects fluctuations in the wholesale cost of power we purchase for our members. The WPCA is subject to change during the year to adjust when projected power costs and actual power costs fluctuate.

The wholesale power cost adjustment clause has been in effect in all of CCEC’s rates since the 1970s and is a common practice among electric cooperatives nationwide.
