Each year in June, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour provides rising juniors and seniors from across the country the opportunity to experience the nation's capital, engage with elected officials and network with peers.

North Carolina's 43 youth tourists were joined by nearly 1,800 students from across the country. Tyler Biedenbach, a rising senior at Croatan High School, was selected to represent CCEC.

“I was honored to be selected to participate in Youth Tour. I have always wanted to visit the Capital and see how our nation's government works and this trip was the perfect opportunity,” said Biedenbach. "My favorite part of the experience was the opportunity to meet with several of North Carolina's congressional representatives."

While on Youth Tour, Tyler visited all of the memorials located on the National Mall, toured many of the Smithsonian Museums, and visited Arlington National Cemetery. The group was even able to take in a National's baseball game.
