A delicious meal, a gift for registered members, special demonstrations and displays, and a chance to win cash, free electricity, and a pickup truck – that’s what is in store for the CCEC Annual Meeting of the Membership on Thursday, May 1 at Glad Tidings Church in Morehead City.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the first 600 members to register will receive a gift. All co-op members who attend and register will get a ticket for drawings at the close of the meeting. Those drawings include cash prizes, up to $1,000 in free electricity, and a 2013 Ford-150 truck retired from the cooperative's fleet.
Attendees can learn more about the Carteret-Craven Electric Foundation and Operation RoundUP® program, energy safety, and CCEC’s energy-saving programs like Connect My Thermostat. The co-op’s Relay for Life team will hold a 50-50 raffle and all proceeds will benefit the local American Cancer Society.
Entertainment by talented students from Morehead City Middle School’s Jazz Band and Havelock High School’s Vocal Ensemble will be featured in the church sanctuary just before the opening of the business meeting.
In addition to those activities, the cooperative will recognize five high school seniors receiving $4,000 scholarships and two high school students who have been selected to attend the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington D.C. this June.
The terms for directors from Districts 2, 5, and 8 expire this year. All three candidates were unopposed. They are: District 2 Director Ben Ball, District 5 Director Amy Lock, and District 8 Director Thom Styron.
“We encourage members to attend and learn more about their cooperative,” said CCEC Communications Director Melissa Glenn. “After all, our co-op members are the owners of the organization, and they have a say in what we do.”
