Five students have been awarded scholarships through the Carteret-Craven Electric Foundation for their college studies beginning this fall:

  • Abby Cruz, Havelock High School
  • Sophia Uhlmann, West Carteret High School
  • Calvin Jackson, East Carteret High School
  • Emma Garcy, Croatan High School
  • Lilly Alvir, Gramercy Christian School

Each student will receive $500 per semester totaling $4,000 for four years of higher education.

“The cooperative has a long-standing commitment to support the communities we serve,” said Melissa Glenn, communications director at Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative (CCEC). “We are proud to continue investing in the future of our communities through this scholarship program.”

Funding for the scholarships is made possible by members who participate in Operation RoundUP®. Participants’ electric bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar amount each month. The funds generated are managed by a foundation board, selected by the cooperative’s directors.

Since 2005, the foundation has awarded more than $520,000 in scholarships to high school seniors. Students who live in a residence served by the cooperative are eligible to apply. CCEC will begin accepting scholarship applications for 2026 this fall.

Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative supplies power to more than 46,000 meters serving more than 42,000 members in Carteret, Craven, Jones, and Onslow counties. CCEC is part of Touchstone Energy®, a nationwide family of co-ops exhibiting the core values of integrity, accountability, innovation, and commitment to the community.
