Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative, in collaboration with CoBank’s Sharing Success Program, presented the Harold Anderson Fund with a check for $12,500.
Harold Anderson, who worked for Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative for 29 years, passed away while restoring power during Hurricane Isabel in 2003. The Harold Anderson Memorial Fund was created to honor his memory and support local charities that he loved.
The Harold Anderson Fund provides funding to many local programs and organizations including Project Christmas Cheer, the Sarah James Fulcher Redfish Tournament, Crystal Coast Hospice House, among others. Recently, the fund acquired two beach wheelchairs for the Salter Path Fire Department.
“Thanks to the contributions from CCEC’s Foundation and CoBank’s Sharing Success Program, the Harold Anderson Fund will continue to keep Harold’s memory alive by supporting programs that positively impact our community,” said Barbara Anderson, Harold’s wife.
CoBank’s Sharing Success Program, established in 2012, is a matching grant initiative where the cooperative bank collaborates with its customers, such as CCEC, to support meaningful causes and organizations. “Caring for community is one of our cooperative’s seven principles, and we are pleased to partner with CoBank in this program,” said Leigh Ann Jones, CCEC Foundation Liaison.
