Amber GuilianelliTwo local students recently attended basketball camps at two of the state’s largest universities as recipients of Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative’s (CCEC) Sports Camp Scholarships.

Amber Guilianelli, a rising 7th grader at Morehead City Middle School, attended the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp at N.C. State University. Wyatt Griggs, a rising 6th grader at Morehead City Middle School, participated in the Carolina Basketball School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Each student received a full scholarship from CCEC.

“CCEC was proud to sponsor Amber and Wyatt as the 2025 Cooperative Sports Camp scholarship recipients,” said Melissa Glenn, communications director for CCEC. “These students are not only passionate about basketball, but they are also exemplary students.”

Scholarship winners were selected by a panel of judges based on an application that included academic achievements, extracurricular activities, an essay, and a short-answer question.

Wyatt GriggsDuring the overnight camps, students stayed in dorms on campus and soaked up lessons on the hardwood from college coaches and current and former student-athletes. Coaches and players at both camps worked closely with each camper to develop essential skills to help them succeed both on and off the court.

The N.C. State women’s camp was led by head coach Wes Moore, his coaching staff, and current and former N.C. State women’s basketball players. The UNC camp was led by former Tar Heel player and head coach, Hubert Davis, his staff, and current and past Tar Heel basketball players.

More than 50 students from across the state attended basketball camp on a Cooperative Sports Camp scholarship from electric cooperatives in North Carolina this year. Now in its 22nd year, the scholarship program demonstrates the electric cooperatives’ commitment to building a brighter future through continued support for education and community programs.

CCEC will begin accepting applications for the 2026 basketball camps on Jan. 1, 2026. Visit ccemc.com/SportsCamps for more information.
